Doug Engelbart's notion of View Specifications (ViewSpecs) is a fundamental part of jrnl. We are looking at building several ways to augment the users ability to change the visual presentation of the article they are reading, to help them get to grips with the contents and to give them different perspectives. They include:

 

• Flow / Visual Syntactic Text Formatting
• Colour coding based on colour glossaries
• Greyscale coding based on word frequencies
• Automatic tagging based on keywords such as other authors in the same environment
• hyperGlossary integration
• Hiding/Showing comments and annotations
